Spinal Pain
Welcome to London Osteopathy & Pilates for spinal pain treatment London.
Have you recently started suffering spinal pain as a result of stepping up your level of physical activity?
Alternatively, have you recently suffered a sports injury that now causes back pain?
Or do you have longer term spinal pain that requires suitably long term management?
Whether acute or chronic, 80% of us suffer from spinal pain at some point during our lives. The most common form of spinal pain is low back pain, although pain is also often suffered in the thoracic (mid back) and cervical (neck) areas. It is for these reasons that David Canevaro offers osteopathic treatment for all types of spinal pain.
Spinal Injury London
Far from curing low back pain, surgery should be seen more as an end-stage approach to pain management. Although this is not to suggest that surgery is not frequently useful, the NHS lacks the resources to cope well with back pain. This makes it especially important to seek a registered osteopath, such as David Canevaro, who can relieve minor spinal pain in addition to helping to manage long-term complaints.
What causes spinal pain?
Causes of spinal pain include:
- Strains to muscles or ligaments
- Degenerative changes
- Injuries
Aside from purely muscular pain, it is often wear and tear of the spine’s intervertebral discs and its associated joints that causes pain in older people. Such pain is caused by movement and is therefore common in the lower (lumbar) and neck (cervical) parts of the spine.
How do we treat spinal pain?
Although spinal pain is short-lived in most cases, and usually settles down rapidly without the need for specific treatment, we may need to examine you if it is particularly persistent or intense.
Osteopathy has long been the main way of treating spinal pain, and as a sports therapist and osteopath, David Canevaro will be able to devise a suitable treatment plan in addition to referring you to a medical specialist if necessary.
David Canevaro uses various manipulative techniques for the effective treatment of acute spinal pain, including on both the back and neck.
