Treating Stress in London
Are you an office worker under pressure, working to tight deadlines?
Do you frequently experience symptoms such as muscle stiffness, back pain and headaches?
Are you interested in a way of more effectively coping with the ups and downs of modern life?
In moderation, stress is a useful and necessary part of life. It motivates us, increases our productivity and improves our performance. Whenever we are subjected to too much, or prolonged pressure, however, our physical and mental health can suffer.
Registered Osteopath, David Canevaro uses a range of gentle osteopathic techniques to help you to relieve and manage both short-term and chronic stress.
The ways in which stress manifests in the body
Stress manifests in the body in a number of ways, and often in the weakest areas of our bodies.
Common symptoms of stress include:
- Headaches
- Back pain
- Nervous twitches
- Muscle stiffness
- Upset stomach
- Allergic reactions or sensitivities
Regardless of which symptoms you have, stress manifests itself through the nervous system. It is vital that your nervous system is healthy and functions well, as it controls all of the functions of your body and if yours is not healthy, both short-term and long-term illness can subsequently develop.
You may experience stress in the form of muscular tension at the base of the neck, head and jaw. This irritates nerves and upsets the flow of blood to the brain, leading to headaches and making you feel generally ‘out of sorts’.
How do we treat stress?
Our focus will be on restoring joint function and, in turn, the function of your nervous system, allowing you to fight off stress.
We will examine you and diagnose you and devise a treatment plan as necessary to help to prevent mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. This will enable your body to work at a more optimal level. We will also give you recommendations for the future so that you can better prevent stress.
